MOST days Leande van Loggerenberg sits behind a desk, but the Mackay girl is about to strut her stuff in a bid to become Australia’s teen queen.Five months ago she was too shy to enter Australia’s Miss Teen Competition, but now the 19-year-old reckons she may just go all the way.

Ms van Loggerenberg, whose talent was discovered on Facebook, is one of 15 State finalists who will next month vie to become the Miss Teen Australia 2009 winner.It’s a big thing it’s the top 15 in Australia, Ms van Loggerenberg said of the looming national final.

It’s definitely exciting.

Five months ago, then Brisbane agency Seen search model virtually plucked the former St Patrick’s College student from obscurity after stumbling across her photo on Facebook.

The model agency invited Ms van Loggerenberg to fly down for a test shoot. It was the first time the receptionist and former fitness trainer had been in front of the cameras, but the agency was stoked with the final product.

Initially, Ms van Loggerenberg didn’t have the guts to enter Miss Teen, but themodel agency tick of approval gave her just the confidence boost she needed.

When asked of her chances yesterday, she said: Pretty good I think. I’ve got a chance but I’ve only seen the Queensland finalists.

Ms Van Loggerenberg has made it through two rounds of judging and will touch down in Sydney on December 14 for the national final.

To win she will have to impress the judges in swim wear and formal wear and during one-on-one conversations.

We really don’t know what to expect, Ms Van Loggerenberg said.

The whole time we’re down there we’ll be judged.

So far, Ms Van Loggerenberg has impressed both the judges and the public. Apart from making it to the top 15, she has also made the people’s choice top five and among the competition’s top five raffle ticket sellers.

The entrant who sells the most raffle tickets will be crowned Miss Charity and will get to choose what charity all the money will go to. And Ms Van Loggerenberg, whose charity is John E Smith ARC in Mackay, is a good chance, having almost raised $5000.

Standing at 163cm, Ms Van Loggerenberg says it’s likely she will pursue photo gallery on facebook.I’m not very tall so I can’t do catwalk modelling, she said.

Regardless of the results at the national final, Ms Van Loggerenberg has a bright future.

She has already begun search model dresses for Hilton Hollywood and is keen to make a career for herself in the modelling world.

I’ve had a lot of opportunities open up for me, she said.
